Hey there! We’re sooo excited to have you on as a guest for the show! The goal of this page is to get you all scheduled and set up with the information you’ll need for recording day.
To start, click here to schedule your interview. Please keep in mind that while we try to have a wide range of availability, we’re also two moms who work the #naptimehustle, which makes it challenging to be available at all times. If there’s a time that works better for you that’s not listed, please let us know so we can try to accommodate you if at all possible!
After you’ve booked your appointment and filled out the accompanying form, you’re good to go! We’ll call you on Skype at the scheduled time and go from there.
If you’re anything like us, you like extra details, so here’s everything you need to know about your interview.
How will this work?
Before recording day, we’ll send you a list of questions we’re thinking about asking and the main topics we want to talk about. These questions and topics won’t be set in stone, depending on where the conversation goes, but they’ll give you an idea of what’s coming so you’re not caught off-guard.
At your scheduled time, we’ll give you a call on Skype. From there we’ll make sure the audio is working well, get a recording session set up, and take some time to relax and chat. We don’t want you to feel nervous during the interview so we’ll sit and chat until you’re totally ready to go.
Once we start recording, we’ll dive right in with a brief introduction and lead you through the episode with questions and conversation topics. The way we do things is tooootally casual so we’re all for giggling and tripping over our words. But don’t worry, if something happens that you don’t want in the final episode, we can get it edited out without a problem.
What kind of audio equipment do I need?
Nothing fancy! We both use Blue Yeti mics, but don’t require that you do the same. As long as your audio quality is clear and there isn’t feedback, we’re happy.
If you’d like to run a quick test, open up QuickTime on your computer and record yourself saying a few words with a few empty seconds before and after. Then, listen back to it with the audio turned up a bit more than normal. If your voice sounds clear and you don’t hear background noise or feedback, we’re good to go!
How should I dress?
However you want! While the three of us will be on video to make holding a conversation easier, no one except the three of us will see what you look like. We keep it pretty casual, so do whatever will make you feel the best!
How long will this take?
Most of our episodes take around 30 minutes to record, but it totally depends on what kind of groove we get in when we’re talking. You can also figure in about 10 minutes before and after for chatting and having a good time. If you know you’ll be in a time crunch the day you’ve scheduled your recording, head over to the confirmation email you received and schedule for a day where you’ll have at least an hour available.
Any extra tips?
Relax and have fun!
As for audio quality, if you’re one who tends to talk with your hands, back away from your desk so you don’t hit it on accident. If you’re using Apple headphones, it’s best to pull your hair back to avoid it rubbing on the mic. And last, have your phone on silent so it doesn’t throw you off in the middle of an amazing point. 🙂
I have more questions!
Doooon’t worry. If you have more questions for us, send an email over to hello@getbacktodesign.co and ask away!
We can’t wait to chat!
